Will this catch every possible problem in my file?

It catches the common, high-impact issues — open paths, hidden objects, self-intersections, thin lines — but very unusual SVG structures (heavy use of masks, clipping paths, or scripted content) may need a manual look in design software too.

Do I need to check a file every time, even ones I've used before?

If it's a file you've successfully cut before without edits, you can usually skip it — the check matters most for new downloads, purchased bundles, or anything you've recently edited.
