Number separate SVG parts before production

Add a clear label layer to top-level SVG parts so pieces are easier to sort, pack and assemble after cutting.

One SVG at a time · parts are detected from top-level groups or shapes

Private by design. The SVG stays in this browser and is never uploaded.

How to use

Keep similar pieces from getting mixed up

1

Group parts first

Make every physical piece a top-level SVG group or shape before uploading. Decorative objects should remain inside the group they belong to.

2

Review the label layer

Choose a clear prefix, a marking mode, scale and position. Check the physical text size and each number against the artwork before exporting.

3

Use labels safely

Assign the text to engraving only, or remove the label group before cutting if the design should remain unmarked.

Assembly-ready files

Small labels can save a large amount of sorting

  1. Keep a cut list or assembly instruction that uses the same numbering system.
  2. Put labels in hidden, removable or non-visible areas when the finished surface matters.
  3. For mirror-image pairs, add a clear naming rule rather than relying only on visual memory.
  4. Test size, contrast and mark position on offcut material before a full production run.

Questions and answers

Before you export

Will the labels be cut automatically?

No. The exported SVG contains text. Your production software controls whether it engraves, scores, cuts or ignores that text, so assign the operation carefully.

Why are some parts not detected?

The tool detects top-level SVG groups and common shapes. Place each physical part in a top-level group and keep definitions or background elements separate.

Can I move labels one by one?

The tool generates a consistent automatic layer. Open the exported SVG in a compatible editor when individual manual placement is needed.
